Panama Tree Distribution Database

Richard Condit

Woody plant species with free-standing stems >=1 cm diameter were surveyed at locations near the Panama Canal, plus a few elsewhere in Panama. They span geological formations and a rainfall gradient. A map and list of sites can be found here, with coordinates, elevation, and estimated rainfall at each. The complete plot data, including measurements of every individual tree in one or more censuses at 65 plots, are published at a permanent University of California-Dryad archive (Condit et al. 2019). Additional data on soil chemistry and more tree inventories can be downloaded from Condit et al. 2013a; those data appeared in the Condit et al. (2013b) paper.
